Plan a Corporate Volunteer Day

Our experiences take team-building and moral boosts to the next level.

Volunteering with Animal Haven is not only a great way for your company to give back to the community, but we promise it will also boost morale as well! Our furry friends are pretty cute, and they’ll be grateful for your attention and care. Now that’s what we call a win-win!

We offer a variety of corporate team experiences that make for an exciting way to spend the day outside of the office.

Option 1: Volunteer at the Shelter

Gather your team for a few hours of fun and furry friends! Groups meet at our lower Manhattan shelter for a brief orientation and tour before splitting into small groups for team-building volunteer activities. While each project can vary depending on the animals at the shelter and our current needs, typical corporate volunteer activities include:

  • Cleaning (dusting, sweeping, mopping, washing food bowls, etc.)
  • Walking dogs
  • Socializing with cats
  • Organizing donations
  • Bathing puppies
  • Writing biographies
  • Stuffing dog toys with treats and making cat toys
  • Creating videos of animals for social media

 

Time:
3 hours

Days:
Weekdays between the hours of 9am-6pm

Number of volunteers:
Up to 12*

Donation Amount:
$2,500

*$200 per additional person over 12, up to 15 volunteers max

Option 2: Yappy Hour

What’s better than a glass of wine at the end of the work day? A fluffy bundle of adoptable pups to play with! For the first two hours your team will help our staff clean the shelter and care for our animals.

Next, we’ll supply the pups if you supply the snacks and beverages (beer and wine are welcome).

 

End your day by spending the last hour enjoying a yappy hour in our new loft space while playing with a few adorable dogs that are up for adoption.

Weekdays between the hours of 4pm-7pm

Number of volunteers:
Up to 12*

Donation Amount:
$3,000

*$200 per additional person over 12, up to 15 volunteers max

Option 3: Hike with Shelter Dogs

Plan an unforgettable day with your team and 5-6 lucky shelter dogs to get out of the office (and the city) for some time in nature. Animal Haven provides van transportation to Harriman State Park or to our partner farm in Warwick along with 1-2 staff members to lead the hike. We suggest bringing packed lunch or snacks and water to fuel your adventure.

7-8 hours (usually 9am-5pm)

Weekdays (some weekends possible)

Up to 8 max

$4,500 

Option 4: Super Size your Volunteer Session or Yappy Hour

Gather up to 30 colleagues for a larger group volunteer event! Animal Haven recently opened a new loft space above our facility, which means we can welcome even more volunteers to the shelter. Groups of up to 30 participants will split up, with half working hands-on in the shelter, and half working on activities like assembling adoption kits or creating enrichment treats for animals. 

Volunteers will switch out so that everyone gets one-on-one time with adoptable animals. For Yappy Hour sessions, we’ll host everyone at the same time in our loft space!

$4,500; additional $500 to add a Yappy Hour

Option 5: Puppy Pawty

What’s better than hanging out in a Soho loft with adoptable puppies? Bringing your colleagues to enjoy it! Host your next team event at our new, second-floor loft space with expansive views of Soho, a kitchen, and bathroom. We’ll provide the space and adoptable puppies or dogs to socialize with. 

This option does not involve hands-on volunteering, but if your group wishes to help out, we can usually organize a few easy activities like assembling adoption kits.

Option 6: Dogs on Demand

Don't have any dogs for "Bring your dog to work day"? No problem, our puppies can come to you! Our team will bring 2-4 adoptable puppies (or friendly dogs) to your office or event within Manhattan. Every workday is better with puppies!

Weekdays between the hours of 10am–5pm

Donation Amount:
$2,500 for two hours

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Click the button above to contact our team and schedule your session. Please include any initial dates, as well as your group size and desired volunteer program option from the list above.

  • Due to high demand for corporate volunteer events, we suggest that groups schedule their session at least 3 weeks in advance. However, if we are able to accommodate your group sooner, we will make every effort to do so. Send us an email with your availability!

  • Corporate groups are kindly asked to make a one-time, tax-deductible donation. The donation levels for each program are listed above. 

    Your donation covers the cost of staffing, planning, administration, and the use of our space. We are very grateful for your help and realize that many volunteers donate their time in lieu of a monetary contribution. Without these donations, we could not afford to maintain a successful corporate volunteer program.

  • We kindly ask that your donation be submitted 7 days prior to your volunteer session. 

  • Specific activities depend on the time of day and what’s happening at the shelter. Generally, volunteers can expect to help with cleaning and organization, walking dogs, socializing or bathing puppies, socializing cats, sorting donations, and helping with feeding.

  • Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that they don’t mind getting a bit dirty or fur-covered. We also recommend wearing comfortable, closed-toed shoes. 

    We have restrooms and a water fountain at the shelter. 

  • Due to the size of our facility, groups of 12 or fewer provide the best volunteering experience. However, if your group is slightly larger, we can accommodate up to 15 participants for an additional donation of $200 per person.

    For corporate group hikes, we can sometimes accommodate larger groups by reserving a van or small bus. There may be an additional cost associated.

  • We recently added an option to “supersize” your volunteer event, for up to 30 volunteers! If you expect more than 30 participants, you can book multiple volunteer sessions with us. Reach out to our team via the button below with your total expected number of volunteers and target dates. Please keep in mind that each session requires a donation.

  • Animal Haven will supply the space and adoptable animals…you bring the food, drink and cheers! We can provide a trash can and do have some limited refrigerator space available. 

  • Yes! As our team’s availability allows, we can bring animals to offices for up to two hours. To cover our staff time, transportation costs, and supplies, we ask for a donation of $2,500. Please reach out to our team via the button below to inquire about our availability. 

  • The number of animals we can bring depends on the puppies we have at our shelter at the time of the event. We make every effort to bring as many adoptable puppies as we can, but occasionally we only have a few puppies that are old enough to travel and available for adoption. We can also bring friendly adoptable adolescent or adult dogs.

  • Yes, we can fill out any paperwork you may need to process the donation. Please give us as much advance notice as possible to process or supply any paperwork needed.

  • Animal Haven has a place for everyone. Some of our volunteer opportunities (such as dog walking) require volunteers to be in good physical condition, however, we can accommodate volunteers of all abilities as long as advance notice is given.
